There were times when having the opportunity to work with certain environments was a kind of privilege of working in a certain company with the required licenses, permissions, etc (Remind my times as smallworld magik programmer...). Done that, you had the opportunity to learn more, contribute, innovate, etc. 

Now, there are no barriers to start, try, learn, compare, etc; just having an Internet connection, and motivation of course.

On the other hand, too many open products to choose is becoming a problem. It is kind of paradigm the fact that open source, standardization, interoperability, etc. is becoming reality, but complexity is increasing...

Insteresting times to be a Java Spatial Developer, anyway!!</description>
